The 4-day Sheffield Shield game played at the Bellerive Oval, Hobart saw the Bulls chasing Tasmania's target of 214 with eight wickets in hand.
The noteworthy half-century knocks of Carseldine and Townsend washed away their batting shambles of the previous game, when they were rolled over by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 for less than 100 in both the innings.
On the final day of the match, Queensland openers, Wade Townsend and Ryan Board steadied the run chase by adding 90 runs for the first wicket. Board was then dismissed by Ben Hilfenhaus for 36.
18 runs later, Townsend was removed after lunch by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tasmania-c854 for a well-played knock of 58 including seven boundaries.
After Townsend’s departure Carseldine and Chris Lynn took the charge and ensured there were no more wickets as the Bulls chased the 214-run-target in the second session.
Carseldine, who has struggled for a start this summer, finished with an unbeaten 68 laced with eight boundaries. Lynn was unbeaten on 40.
Earlier the Tasmanian Tigers were bowled out for 271 in their second innings.
Ryan Harris, who finished the 4-day game with his career-best match figures of 9 for 140, played a key role in Bulls’ eight-wicket victory.
It was Harris' first Sheffield Shield game after his recovery from knee surgery. His performance has made him a strong contender for the Ashes opener squad, which would be announced in Sydney on Monday, 15 November.
The victory against Tasmania has put the Bulls at the third spot in the points table which is being led by New South Wales.
