Sheffield Shield: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Australia-c844 reach 125/3 against WA at lunch
South Australia (SA) were 125 for the loss of three wickets against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Western-Australia-c865 (WA) at lunch on day two of a Sheffield Shield match at Perth.
SA started their innings at 15 for one and played steadily to take their team to a safe position. However, they lost one wicket at the brink of lunch, which would have been disappointing for the team. The wicket didn’t change much from the first day and
there was not much assistance for the bowlers in it. However, the conditions at Perth were overcast, which would have given some hope to the WA bowlers.
SA’s captain Michael Klinger and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Smith-c1654 got the team off to a confident start. The pair took the total to 95 with a solid 92-run partnership. They would have liked to build on their good start in the day but Smith got out after scoring a good half-century.
He played some fluent strokes and scored 66 runs. Out of his total, 40 runs came in boundaries as he struck ten 4’s in his innings.
Klinger was then joined by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aiden-Blizzard-c958 at the crease and the pair only managed to put together a 28-run partnership for their team. Blizzard got out after getting a good start to his innings. He was undone just eight balls before the lunch break after
scoring 12 runs. The fall of wickets however, didn’t bother Klinger, as he remained focused on his batting. He played steadily throughout the day and remained unbeaten on 44 in the first session of today’s play.
Aaron O’Brien joined his captain at the crease and faced just four balls in his innings before the umpires took the bails off the stumps and called lunch. O’Brien was unbeaten on one and he will be looking forward to constructing a solid partnership with
his captain in the second session. WA are still 199 runs ahead and will be looking to take a good first innings lead in the match. Their bowlers will need to work hard in order to dismiss the SA team though.
Michael Hogan, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ryan-Duffield-c2387 and Marcus North picked up a wicket apiece. They will be looking forward to get some quick wickets after the break to put SA under pressure.
