Sheffield Shield: Tasmania lead by 276 runs with 1 wicket remaining
In the first innings, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tasmania-c854’s top order could not capitalize on the conditions of the pitch as they fell in quick succession with three wickets falling for only 23 runs on the board. But, AJ Doolan and MJ Cosgrove played spectacularly. Doolan’s innings
was the perfect example of extreme patience and hard work that took him to 42 runs in 130 deliveries.
MJ Cosgrove was in prime form as he smashed all around the ground with his swashbuckling display of shots that included 22 fours and 2 sixes in a score of 159. He had a phenomenal strike rate of 81. Following Doolan’s departure, TR Birt played a responsible
innings as he scored 47 runs in 106 deliveries. Tasmania was eventually bowled out for 326 runs.
In the bowling department, DJ Wright was brilliant as he took 4 wickets in 20 over’s with a truly exceptional economy rate of 2.80.
Tasmania dominated http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Victoria-c859 in the bowling department as well since the Tasmanian bowlers did not allow the batsmen to settle in. The openers struggled to find their shots as CJL Rogers was eventually dismissed for 26 runs scored in 100 deliveries while
he was soon followed by MW Hill who scored 14 from 59 deliveries. The only batsman to stand out for Victoria in their first innings was RJ Quiney who scored 62 runs in 89 deliveries, hitting 7 fours.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/XJ-Doherty-c2804 was phenomenal with his bowling as he took 5 wickets and bowled with an impressive economy rate of 2.59 while Buttersworth took another 4 wickets for Tasmania.
In their second innings, Tasmania could not replicate their success of first innings as its batsmen struggled. The pitch had deteriorated considerably by the 2nd day and Tasmania have scored 226 runs with only one wicket remaining.
Pattinson took 4 wickets for Victoria, while http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Western-Australia-c865 lead by 276 runs which is a competitive total on this particular pitch.
There is still a day left and it remains to be seen how Victoria will respond to the total posted by Tasmania which at the moment seems rather tough to chase.
