Sheffield Shield: http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Victoria-c859 fight to avoid follow-on against NSW
Things were looking grim for Victoria at the close of the second day’s play in a Sheffield Shield match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-South-Wales-c823 (NSW). Victoria still trail by 210 runs and have only two wickets remaining in their first innings.
Earlier, NSW were all out in their first innings for 416 runs. In reply, Victoria were struggling at 206 for 8. The wicket in Melbourne was not difficult for batting, but there was some bounce in it for the blowers.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Michael-Hill-c1955 started the innings for Victoria after the lunch break. However, the start wasn’t an ideal one, as Hill failed to build on the start he got to his innings. Hill was dismissed after scoring just 10 runs off 21 balls. His wicket
brought in-form batsman and Victorian captain http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Aaron-Finch-c881 to the crease.
Finch and Rogers then put together a solid half-century partnership for the second wicket to take the team’s total to 65. Rogers then fished at a ball which left him outside the off-stump and edged it to the keeper. He would have been disappointed to get
out after making 35 promising runs. The fall of his wicket saw the Victorian middle order collapse.
Finch was the next man to fall after he had scored 22 runs in his innings. Four balls later, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Matthew-Wade-c1933 got off to a good
start, but he also threw his wicket away as Victoria continued to struggle. Wade was out after scoring 13 runs and his wicket brought Robert Quiney and http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Glenn-Maxwell-c1493 to the middle, with their team five down for just 100 runs.
The pair constructed a brilliant partnership for the sixth wicket and rescued their team from trouble. Quiney top scored in the Victorian innings with a much needed 66 runs but failed to take advantage of the good start he got. Maxwell didn’t last long either
after Quiney’s dismissal. He played aggressively for his 38 off 45 balls. However, his innings was also not enough to help his team avoid the follow-on.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Damien-Wright-c1304 were unbeaten at the crease and the pair will be looking forward to scoring the 11 runs needed to avoid the follow-on.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Beau-Casson-c1130, who picked up two wickets.
