Sheffield Shield: Western Australia extend lead to 145 runs
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Australia-c844 to 145 runs with 7 wickets remaining in their second innings until lunch on day three of the four-day match of the Sheffield Shield being played at Perth.
Until lunch, the hosts had reached 92 for the loss of 3 wickets and had http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Luke-Pomersbach-c1856 well set on the crease along with their captain Marcus North. When the umpires called off the session, Pomersbach was unbeaten on 35 and North on 1.
The Perth wicket was good for batting, contrary to its nature of being fast and bouncy. The bowlers have struggled to find their rhythm so far.
Western Australia had to bat for just a few overs on Friday after they bowled out the visitors for 271 in their first innings. Although the hosts had a 53-run lead, they lost their opener http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Liam-Davis-c1839 when the day ended.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Marcus-Harris-c1897.
The pair started proceedings on Friday but soon suffered an early blow when Beer was sent back to the pavilion courtesy some good bowling from Peter George.
Beer scored 5 runs and his fall brought Pomersbach at the crease who constructed a solid partnership with Harris.
Both played steadily and took the team’s total to 88 with a 63-run stand for the third wicket. Harris missed out on an opportunity to score a half-century as he was dismissed for 44 runs. He was dismissed at the brink of lunch and Pomersbach was joined by
North at the crease.
The pair played out the remaining overs of the session carefully and added 4 runs to the total before the session was called off by the umpires.
George was exceptional with the ball for his team and did not allow the batsmen to score freely off his bowling. He took 2 wickets until lunch and looked threatening. The other wicket taker was http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Daniel-Christian-c1308, who dismissed Harris just before the session
was over.
