Sheffield’s Adam Duffy aiming to qualify for 2012 World Snooker Championship
England’s Adam Duffy was not able to perform up to the mark in the current snooker season but still he is aiming to hit the televised stages of the upcoming 2012 World Snooker Championship. Should he manage to play impressively in the qualifiers of the mega
event, he will be the first Sheffield potter to play the initial stages of the Championship.
The 23-year-old is now aiming to surge into the opening round of the tournament after winning four qualifying matches. He is currently placed in the first round of the World Championship qualifying session where he will play his first match against India’s
Lucky Vatnani. He has played against Vatnani a couple of times before and has defeated him already so the match up will be an easy game for him.
Speaking to the media about his ambitions, Duffy said, “Right now, I want to win as many matches as I can. If I do qualify for the World Championship this year, then long may it continue, and if not this year then it’ll hopefully happen in the future. I
do aim to get into the world’s top 64. If I win two matches I’ll sneak in, which will be a bonus. It’s all about being your own player. I play every game to enjoy it.”
In the qualifier line up, he has Adrian Gunnell, Jamie Burnett and Joe Perry. His campaign of the qualifying session will be tough as he has quite challenging competitions ahead. Duffy’s father Mr. Kevin is hopeful for a positive result from his boy and
believes that he will perform impressively at the Championship and will bring some fireworks at the baize.
Mr. Kevin stated that Duffy has a unique flamboyant, laid-back playing style which helps him a lot during his game. He also commented that Duffy models the former three-time World Snooker Champion and the 2012 German Masters winner, England’s Ronnie O’Sullivan
because the veteran is his inspiration. He wished luck to his son for the mega event.
The qualifiers for the event will be starting from April 17 at the World Snooker Academy in Sheffield. Duffy will be practising hard to prove his talent to the world.
