http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonjo-Shelvey-c19081 has insisted that the Reds 35 million pounds striker Andy Carroll can play to Brendan Rodgers’ script, and felt that he can bring a lot of value to the team this coming season.
The former Newcastle United player is currently marred by uncertainty, after the Reds boss Brendan Rodgers made public his intentions of off loading him from Anfield this summer.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew’s Newcastle, West Ham United and Fulham have all reportedly stepped into the transfer market to trade for the striker, with Liverpool even accepting a 2 million pounds loan offer for him from the Hammers.
However, the move was turned down at the eleventh hour by Carroll himself, who is keen on representing a team participating in intercontinental competition.
A lot has been said about the troubled striker’s incompatibility with the Northern Irishman’s playing philosophy. However, Shelvey had a totally different say on the subject, as he insisted that Carroll is a world class player who can come to grips with
the new playing style that the manager is trying to introduce at Anfield.
While talking to reporters, he said: “Obviously, I've only played with Andy a few times last season but I know what he's about. It's not down to me whether or not he stays, it's down to the boss but Andy is a great player. I think he can fit in.”
The 20-year old Shelvey broke into the starting-eleven last season, netting 2 goals in 16 appearances.
Even though he was optimistic of building on his performances, the midfielder revealed that he was wary of the tough competition within the squad for a place in the team, but indicated that it was a challenge he was relishing.
He then went on to express his admiration for his skipper http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196, who plays at the same position as him, and mentioned that it was an honour for him to play alongside the Liverpool legend.
“Stevie's had such a big impact for the club and country, the way he plays in the midfield is magnificent. To be on the same team as him is great.”
