Liverpool’s understudy midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jonjo-Shelvey-c19081 revealed that he wants to establish himself as a regular player in the Reds starting eleven in the next season, and was delighted on getting more playing time over the last couple of weeks.
The juvenile English footballer has made 15 appearances for Liverpool this season, and scored his second goal for the Reds in the last game against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 on Tuesday at Anfield. His first goal for the club came earlier in January, during the third round
FA Cup tie against Oldham Athletic.
And despite being on the sidelines for a major portion of the season, the 20-year old has now started for the Reds in the last six of their seven league games.
Shelvey expressed his satisfaction over finally getting a chance to start for the Merseyside outfit on regular basis, and set himself the target of maintaining his position in the team next season.
He told the reporters, “It's been great to play more regularly in recent weeks and hopefully I've shown people what I can do.”
“The fact that the gaffer has given me more chances towards the end of the season gives me a lot of confidence going into the summer.”
Shelvey spent a two month spell with the Championship team Blackpool in earlier part of the season. He made ten appearances for the Seasiders during his brief stint and scored 6 goals in total, which included a hat-trick against Leeds United in November.
However, he was recalled in the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Steven-Gerrard-c34196.
The Englishman conceded that his stay at the Bloomfield Road was a good learning experience for him, and helped him develop as a player.
He continued, “I benefited a lot from the games I got at Blackpool. It was good for me and I came back better for the experience. Playing week in, week out gave me that match fitness. But the time there also made me realise just how much I want to be playing
in Liverpool's first team.”
The midfielder went on to say that he has witnessed a topsy-turvy current season, but was honoured to play for a club as big as Liverpool.
