Shemberev Maxim captures Men’s 400m IM title: Day one – 2012 Ukraine Summer Cup
Shemberev Maxim of Cues captured gold medal of the Men’s 400m Individual Medley (IM) on primary day of the 2012 Ukraine Summer Cup in Kharkiv on Monday, May 7.
Shemberev, who secured bronze finish in the Men’s 200m butterfly earlier at the championship, elevated his efforts in the playoff of the 400m events and won gold medal of the event.
With his alluring efforts, he remained dominant over his opponents throughout the discipline and finished his swim in a time of 4 minutes and 23.97 seconds for gold medal.
His nerve-wrecking pace was trailed by Bezugly Alexander of DON, who suffered a loss of almost five seconds from the gold medallist and tapped the finishing end with an effort of 4 minutes and 28.62 seconds for silver medal.
The second position holder was followed by Irakli Bolkvadze of ARD, who remained 1.30 seconds away and surfaced on the finishing wall for bronze medal with the timing of 4 minutes and 29.92 seconds.
Fourth spot of the event was trailed by Vadim Maksimenko of ANW, who stayed nearly eight seconds slower from securing bronze medal and emerged on the wall as fourth best finisher with the timing of 4 minutes and 37.68 seconds.
Maksimenko was chased by Alex Rozhkov of DPR, who remained 3.94 seconds apart and secured fifth position of the discipline by hitting the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 41.62 seconds.
Similarly, Rozhkov was followed by Fedorchenko Denis of ANW, who was just 0.36 seconds behind and posted a time of 4 minutes and 41.98 seconds for sixth position.
Seventh best spot of the event was trailed by Androschuk Eugene of Cues, who posted an effort of 4 minutes and 42.20 seconds for seventh best position of the event.
Last spot of the event was obtained by Denis’s teammate, Fedina Rostislav, who was considerably slower from his foregoing finisher and posted a time of 4 minutes and 46.25 seconds.
The crowd acknowledged ruthless efforts of all participants in the distant IM event while the medal winners were called upon the victory stand for accolades after the completion of session.
