Shenfield station to Picadilly Circus (PART 2)?

"The easiest and quickest way is by using the train and tube links. Shenfield obviously has a train station so from there get the train to Liverpool Street, This will take just less than 30min. From there you need to follow the signs to the underground and get on a train going Eastbound on the Central Line on the third station Holborn change onto the Piccadilly Line (Navy Blue) and go eastbound again to Piccadilly Circus and hey presto you have arrived."

This is an answer to my question BUT now i'm really confused and nervous about changing trains to go Eastbound and the rest..well i'm scared of catching the wrong train as i'm not used to going to London all by myself.

How do you know when to change and what train to catch?!!?

ahhh u guys probably think i'm stupid on freaking out about this but i'm not used to it...

  1. OH MY GOD, I am so sorry I got my east's & west's mixed up :( sorry sorry sorry

Look the underground is so easy to use, you get down to the platform and it shows where you are and which stations that train will take you, so say you're at Liverpool Street, look at both boards and find the one with Holborn on it, that will be WESTBOUND, if you do accidently get on the wrong train you can simply go back, trains come every 4 minutes so you can easily get back on the right track. If you look at a map you'll be able to navagate yourself through the area so easily.

I was 16 when I first went down to London on my own and used the underground, If a 16 year old can do it you can believe me, you see so many tourists complementing the underground system, saying how easy it is!

So So So So Sooooo Sorry about the eastbound & westbound mix-up it is westbound both times

It is so easy to get around

    Good Luck

Sam (A Really Sorry Londoner) :D

  2. Coming from the east, i.e. Shenfield/Liverpool Street you need to take the WESTBOUND train on the Central Line and Piccadilly Line. If you were to take the eastbound train you will be going back the way you came! See linked map. Everything is colour coded at the Underground stations and a lot of effort has been put into the signage, Also all stations are staffed whenever they are open, so you can ask for assistance. Finally, there are "help points" on all platforms.

Reply to Additional Details: Not unless you want to go back through East London. Your destination is in the West End.

  3. Use this:

  4. Catch a bus instead. Number 23 which starts from the bus station that is just to the right of Liverpool Street station platforms. Buses are much nicer to travel on than the tube. The fare is only 90p if you pay by Oyster. If you have a Travelcard then that covers you for the bus journey.

  5. It'll be fine, Holborn tube is a very easy station to navigate (as i work just round the corner from it)

All trains going eastbound leave from the same platform and all go the same way, So if the signs say eastbound platform then you'll be on the right train.  As for knowing when to get off, there is a very nice lady announcer on the central line trains who says " The next station is Holborn" So just look out of the windows and get off when you're in Holborn.

From the central line follow the signs towards the exit, You will then see the signs to the picadilly line. You go past the up escalators that lead out, and go straight ahead, the tunnel turns right and you go down some escalotors. At the bottom follow the corridor round and the entrance to the eastbound platform is on the right. Hey presto picadilly line eastbound. All trains go to picadilly circus.

When you getout at picadilly there is about 8 exits you can take up, It doesn't matter which one you take they are just all on different sides of the roads, so get above ground first and then cross up there.

    Have a nice day out.

Yep just realised that you do need to go westbound from liverpool street and also from Holborn. The directions to the platform at olborn station are the same, just got the name wrong.
