  1. Eventually you'll have to deal with the Embassy, despite them being rude and unhelpful. And I'd recommend you to do it as soon as possible as they're never in a rush and December is just round the corner.

  2. A schengen visa is valid for the Schengen territory which includes the following countries: Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal, Spain and The Netherlands. An application for a Schengen visa must be presented to the representative of the country where the stay is the longest. If this cannot be established, an application must be directed to the representative of the country where the first entry into Schengen territory is made.

Each application must be accompanied by the following documents where applicable:

Valid passport (minimum validity 3 months after expiry of visa); or Temporary passport no older than 6 weeks plus a copy of your identity document; Visa form (available at the Consulate General, Embassy or travel agent; completion of all questions is required); One photograph (stapled to the form); Original return ticket plus photocopy; Letter from travel agent with planned itinerary; Proof of travel / medical insurance; Proof of sufficient financial means - original exchange receipt or original bank letter stating amount available for forex (minimum of R200 and R 500 per day) and Proof of prepaid accomodation and R 200 per person per day (no e-mails accepted) or Garantor statement or letter of invitation (this letter should be legalised or notarised by the local competent authorities together with latest copy of bank account from host main destination; Main destination visas must be obtained before applying for the Schengen visa.

Minors under 21 years old must submit the written and certified consent of their parents or guardian(s), and has to be stamped by the police. Visas for periods longer than 90 days, or for the purpose of taking up employment, are subject to the national legalisation of the country of destination. They must be applied for with the consular authorities of the country concerned. As a rule it is not allowed to change the reason or purpose of a visit. Due to the exchange rate the cost of a visa can change regularly. Please confirm before handing in visa applications. Processing time for visa applications is between 2 and 14 days. For non-SA citizens it could take up to 3 months.

  3. Go to the SA embasy and apply for a shengen visa....

  4. the best way is to consult a reputable travel agency and you can also inquire on travel costs, hotels, connections, best airline to take, etc.

You can get so much info from them without making any commitment.

  5. Dealing with the unhelpful is your only choice.  You can get an application form from http://www.visa4travel.com/Embass/Spain....

but you'll still have to phone the embassy when they ignore you.
