  1. Well The Sheriff is the only Constitutional and Legal law enforcement officer of the land. PD are corporate security guards acting under color of law. The 14th amendment gives them jurisdiction. Since the law has made you a color and you agree to it you have waived the first 10 amendments. That why 75% of the criminal that are tried in court are white males, But 75% of the jails are filled with Black males. 2. sherrifs dept.s are often more at ease and arent as uptight as the city police...sherrifs dept. covers the whole county both rural and metro,,s/d,are paid better .city police are never cooridnated to do what is expected whith resources that are available.a job with any duty of integrety should be your honor to carry out with pride and justified reliance of courage...and to role for our children Respect can be lost by the least mis judgement of professionability  .accountability doesnt adjust aweak mind . is kindness your weakness ...yes Sir

  3. I don't know anything about Texas, but I do know about Florida.  The Police Department has jurisdiction in the city limits of the town.  The Sheriff's Department has jurisdiction over the entire county, as well as the State Troopers (Highway Patrol).

I think most states are pretty much the same.

The 911 call is responded by location - in city limits - Police; in county - Sheriff's.

  4. The primary difference is that the local PD serve the city where as the Sheriffs serve the unincorporated areas of the county. I am from California and I'm not too sure about Texas but the differences are the same amongst states.

In regards to 911 calls they are based on the location of the call and which tower is closest. Anytime you call 911 it is routed to the nearest sheriffs department and then they transfer the call to the local PD if your in city limits. That's why local PD's recommend programming their direct line into your cell phone. So as far as the most calls I would definitely say the Sheriffs department, but as far as actual responses to calls I would say the local PD.

  5. Regular police departments wear uniforms that look like police uniforms while sheriff's department personnel wear uniforms that make them look like park rangers or animal control.  Then again you're talking about Texas, so many departments from both the police and sheriff's side also wear uniforms with stripes down their pants or they have contrasting colors on their shirt pockets.  Add to that an array of shoulder patches and patriotic buttons and pins and you have what looks like a circus ringmaster.

  6. sherrifs are more for the county and police are more for the city
