Sheriff court in scotland? who is it that you complain to about them?

Example in our local paper a few weeks ago 2 men were in it after being up in court for fighting. 1 man had been in a fight caught on cctv police never attended the incident but recognised 1 of the men (both men cant mind on the fight and also both had no bruises etc) and charged them. Now this man has been told he is a candidate for a jail sentence!

on the other page the headline was

ATTACK COULD HAVE KILLED MAN!

Now this fight was terrible the person who got attacked had to be flown away to hospital south and get plates and wiring into his jaw to fix it (it was smashed to bits) now the sheriff said to the person who did it -

I will look at alternatives to sending you to jail!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I JUST DO NOT GET THIS THE FIRST MAN HAS ONLY EVER BEEN TO COURT ONCE BEFORE FOR FIGHTING!!!!

AND THE SECOND MAN IS IN COURT EVERY OTHER WEEK!!!!!

The only difference i can see is the first man has a european name (but was born in scotland as was the rest of the family) and the second man has a very traditional local name!!!!!!!!

So please someone tell me who it is i can complain to about this sheriff as i am sick of seeing things like this in the paper and ruining the good name of our justice system!!!!!

(the sheriff is new by the way and this is not the first case i have seen like this either)

Complain to the Scottish Courts Service,but they probably will take no notice of a person ranting about a case they have dealt with, and that the person knows nothing about.

And if the second male is in court every week then surley it shows that prison isnt working in his case and a community based disposal is better.

Whatever happened to two guys being able to have a "square go" ?!
