Shesha Bear to strike a fourth win at Epsom through the Investec Great Metropolitan Handicap
Epsom will host the Class 3 Investec Great Metropolitan Handicap over a mile, four furlongs and 10 yards on Wednesday, 25th April. Competing for the £9,338 purse is the line-up of twelve four-year and older thoroughbreds.
The most promising entry for the race is Shesha Bear, Tobougg’s seven-year-old bay mare out of mare, Sunny Davis. Her last four attempts have been at Epsom with the first three making her achieve a hat trick.
Shesha Bear dominated the Totepool A Better Way To Bet Handicap at Epsom over a mile and four furlongs on 21st July. She was paired up with Richard Kingscote for the race and the two led the 5/2 joint favourite runner up, Tanjung Agas, by two
lengths.
Coming at terms with the third position was Miss Bounty. The other joint favourite, Dr Darcey, ended sixth on the track of eight.
Her second attempt at Epsom was in the Toteexacta The Better Value Forecast Handicap on 30th August at Epsom over a mile and four furlongs. Hayley Turner guided the winner through the wire by just half length’s difference from the runner up, Brouhaha.
The 3/1 favourite of the race, The Bells O Peover, ended third behind the winner.
Refusing to miss any race that came her way, Shesha Bear bagged the third leg of the hat trick on 8th September in the May Family Jump Jockeys Derby Handicap (To Be Ridden By National Hunt Jockeys) at Epsom over a mile and four furlongs.
It was also third time in a row that she was riding with a different jockey. This time she won when coupled with Hadden Frost and they led the final two and a half lengths of the track.
Boston Blue and Palawi, the 4/1 joint favourites, ended one after the other, taking up the fifth and sixth position.
Shesha Bear’s fourth straight attempt at Epsom had her scoring second after the winner, Gunslinger, in the May Family Apprentices’ Derby Handicap on 25th September over a mile and four furlongs.
Today she will race her seasonal debut in the form of the fifth outing in a row at Epsom. She has extensive racing and winning experience there thus her winning today is only inevitable.
