Aleksandr Sheshukov believes that the Selmashi were tired after their hard fought win in the Russian Cup against Spartak Moscow and has commented on Hulk and Igor Denisov
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Aleksandr-Sheshukov-c4612, has defended his side’s 2-1 defeat in the Russian Premier League tie against Zenit St. Petersburg at Petrovsky stadium on Friday, saying that the Selmashi were
tired after playing in the Russian Cup on Tuesday.
RSM managed to reach the quarter-final of the cup competition after defeating Spartak Moscow on a penalty shoot-out. The match had to be decided on the spot-kicks after the two teams failed to score a goal until 120 minutes.
Rostov could have won the league tie after http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Roman-Shirokov-c31645 scoring an injury
time winner.
Sheshukov lamented their league defeat that has now pulled them back on the 14th spot, saying that they could have done better to claim a point against the defending league champions.
“We played for a win and not for the draw. With the score 1-1 we had moments from which we could have caught them on the counter-attack, but we failed. We gave a lot of strength in the cup tie against Spartak after defending 120
minutes. I think we were tired.” The former FC Moscow player was quoted as saying.
And while the Russian outfit have been blamed for their poor defensive display after conceding 22 goals already, Sheshukov urged the front line to minimal their deficit by scoring more goals.
“We do not get the transition from defence to attack and vice versa. We have been struggling due to the lack of offensive quality. I think the entire team needs to take the responsibility for their recent failures.” He concluded.
Sheshukov went on to comment on http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hulk-c16436, saying that Zenit have classy players in each line of attack.
The Brazilian striker picked up a hamstring injury and was replaced during the match while Denisov made his senior appearance after remaining on the sidelines since Zenit’s 3-0 defeat against Malaga.
The 29-year-old wished the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 attacker a speedy recovery and hailed Denisov’s impact on the game.
