  1. Your pony will need shelter from weather.  At least a three sided shed will help.  Make sure that you have a blanket to put on him in real bad weather.  You must also pay attention to him every day so make sure that there is a place that you can brush.  You cannot put horses in a pen together without introducing them.  Put them in pens beside each other for a couple weeks then make sure you have an adult with you when you turn them in together and make sure they will be fine together.  Remember some people don't get along anyway and you must be prepared for the horses to have issues and remove one.

  2. Yes it can live out all year. in fact, most horses do. You do need some shelter for it. though it will most likely stand under a tree when it's raining or snowing. You don't really need a blanket for it unless you really want to put one on it. But if you think about it, horses have lived for centerys in bad weather without a blanket and lived. also, if you put a blanket on them and leave them out in the field they will most likely roll and the blanket will come off and you'll have to go out and find it. Blankets are best for when you put them up in a stall for the winter or when you work them and then put them in a stall when they are all sweaty.
