Shettleston - glasgow?

did anyone see the article in the daily mail today about shettleston east end of glasgow that you have a longer life if you live in the gazza strip rather than shettleston

they say it is the worst area in britain what does everyone else think?

I think its because unemployment is higher than other areas of Glasgow but I don't think its a dump, It has been chosen for the Sports Village, and what about the new houses in Springfield road and Belvidere Village and the ones that are about to be built beside the Irn Bru factory, I was born there but moved to a new town long time ago but still have lots of very elderly relatives still living there, and my boyfriend lives there. The only thing I don't like about the area is that there is lots of people that were probably born in the Gaza Strip now living there??

It is an absolute disgrace and our Government should be hanging their heads in shame after 11 years of being in power things have got worse. We spend millions sending our troops to Iraq etc to give others a better life yet our own citizens are ignored.

So it may well be the case that you could live longer in the Gaza Strip!

The problems with the east end of Glasgow has been the rundown of industry as a consequence of decisions taken in London and its subsequent starvation of remedial funding by Westminster.

There would have been an outcry if the treatment meted on this area had occured in Birmingham or Manchester - is it therefore any wonder that the Scots have elected a Nationalist Parliament which is now making great effort to improved the inherited mess?
