s**+ Tingmao and Wang Han dominate Women's 1m Springboard meet – 2011 World Diving Championships
s**+ Tingmao and Wang Han of China impressed the arena by dominating the final of Women’s 1m Springboard discipline on the fourth day of diving events at the 2011 World Championships in Shanghai on Tuesday, July 19.
With her undisputed effort, Tingmao has captured the fifth gold of the World Championships for China, as the country’s divers have made a clean sweep in the diving events so far.
Tingmao pocketed the gold medal of the event, by accomplishing a wonderful score of 318.65 points in the final round. She was comfortably ahead of her closest competitor and team-member, Han, who sustained her second best spot by clinching the silver medal,
with a score of 310.20 points. She stayed almost fifteen points away from her following diver, Tania Cagnotto of Italy, who stood on the podium for the bronze medal, by achieving 295.45 points.
In the meantime, Tania’s team-member, Maria Elisabetta Marconi settled on the overall points table as for the fourth best diver, as she managed a decent score of 290.15 points. She was followed by Russian diver, Nadezda Bazhina, who occupied the fifth spot
of the event, by achieving an inspiring score of 286.20 points. The arena witnessed an immense battle between Abby Johnston of USA and Sharleen Stratton of Australia, who tried to overcome each other for the sixth position.
Abby successfully overwhelmed Sharleen’s effort and claimed sixth position of the event, by earning 282.85 points. She was 1.20 points ahead of Sharleen, who stood seventh on the overall rankings list, with a score of 281.65 points. Sweden’s Anna Lindberg,
who was approximately two points behind Sharleen, was named as the eighth position holder of the 1m springboard event, as she was able to score a total of 279.55 points.
Furthermore, the crowd enjoyed another dominating effort of a Chinese diver, while the arena also acknowledged the wonderful swims of all participants. In addition, the winners will be awarded with medals and accolades in the ceremony of the Shanghai titles.
