Question:

Shia muslims flogging in UK?

Yesterday a guy was convicted with child cruelty for forcing a 13 and 14 year old boy to flog themselves with a bladed whip. Here's a link to the story:

What concerns me is that the only reason he was convicted is because he refused to admit he had done anything wrong.

Surely in a secular society like Britain, the mere mention of such a ritual should disgust most of us, even before you consider the fact that children are being coerced into taking part. My question is this: shouldn't this type of practice simply be illegal in our country, full-stop? And if someone is found to be letting kids get involved, shouldn't this just result in a straight forward conviction for child abuse (whether or not 'consent' has been given by a child)?

Am I missing something here? Or is our secular nation allowing religious intervention in it's legal system? If we start allowing religion to dictate our laws, this can only end in trouble and confilct.

  1. self-harm and religious expression technically aren't illegal...

also, the kids said they wanted to do something to themselves, just not with the bladed thing - and he was criticised for this by another muslim cleric

and, like the other person said, christianity has done it too - their religious beliefs and expressions of that are up to them, as long as it's within the laws of the country

  2. It never ceases to amaze me the things that are done in  the name of religion, how barbaric this practise is, I agree with you 110% it should be illegal and he should be sent to prison for child cruelty 'evil git' If he and his like want to do these things I suggest they remove themselves from the UK and go back to where they came from.

  3. Mind you there is always an upside to everything. If eventually Britain introduces Sharia Law due to the massive levels of immigration we will be able to deal with two social ills 1. The single parent gravy train  Sexual misconduct is punishable by stoning to death 2.Theft and mugging by the aboves offspring would be punishable by cutting off the right hand.

  4. I agree with you 100%, I find it disgusting that this is allowed to happen. Just because they find that sort of thing necessary, it shouldn't be going on in England. If we start allowing religion to dictate and shape our laws, we might as well have sharia law as our main system

  5. self flagellation also occurs in christianity though i must admit i haven't seen it with kids

this is just one of a huge number of cases that show that religion is not compatible with modern society

  6. Yes, that was a serious assault on children and I hope they can get compensation. I also hope the guy who did it can be booted out of the UK as soon as possible. Unfortunately I think there are thousands of others who may do the same thing. Why don’t these muslims go and live in a muslim country instead of wrecking Britain.

  7. Let them get on with it, if it floats their boat. But it shouldn't be forced.

  8. Anti-Muslims they said that malaysia is a islamic country and they try to cancel avril lavigne's concert oh my if you stay at malaysia you will realise that everything is about muslims =/

  9. It just shows what a sick disgusting place Britain is becoming. Only a few weeks ago the government said shia ,or sharia which ever it is could be permitted in the UK, if that is so how the h**l can you convict some one for implementing it.

  10. I thought it was illegal.

  11. Yep we should be disgusted, children cannot be asked to decide or give consent about such acts.

Ask an english kids if he/she wants a good beating and they say yes the parent does it. Child abuse is child abuse.

    f*ck religion.

  12. It's child abuse in the name of the 'religion of peace'.

Not surprising when you look at the age of the 'wife' of its founder.

  13. we're just allowing the muslims to spit on our laws! It should not happen!
