Question:

Shift in domestic energy policy?

The U.S. has not commissioned nor built a domestic nuclear power plant in 30 years, yet there are 32 proposed to be built starting this year. What has changed in the scientific, environmental, and political arenas to cause such a dramatic shift in domestic energy policy?

  1. I don't know, but I do not like nuclear energy.  Sure, it produces no carbon dioxide emmisions--No; instead it makes highly dangerous nuclear waste.  They think the can contain it forever--yeah right!  It WILL get loose, whether from an earthquake, or a terrorist attack, or something else.  And it is not sustainable, either.

  2. reality eventually triumphs over hysterical propaganda.

actually nothing has changed in the last 40 years except in that time we have burned up most of the worlds oil & natural gas reserves & spread it through out the environment.

now we have no choice but to start ignoring the radical liberals and start being practical or turn out the lights & go out of business.

it is sustainable if we use fast breeder reactors like the rest of the world uses.

with the politically correct reactors were forced to use since the Carter administration 97% of the fuel is wasted & we will run out in 125 years. with fast breeder reactors the nuclear waste is turned to more fuel & we will never run out.

  3. There have been several that have been in the design phase for many years.  The list really includes all of these as well.  Many of the 32 proposed still have many hurdles to overcome before they get approved, if they ever do.  Proposed does not mean approved.
