Shiho Tanaka, Miri Ichimaru prove their point in 12th World University Badminton Championship
Women’s Doubles experts Shiho Tanaka and Miri Ichimaru showed superb coordination and outshined Roxanne Fraser-Tracy Wong in the group stage of 12th World University Badminton Championship on November 7, 2012.
This tie was part of a match between Japan and Canada as both pairs challenged each other in all areas of the game while piling up the final figures of 21-11 and 21-10.
They remained head-to-head for 24 minutes and their honest effort earned great deal of admiration for them.
The Japanese shuttlers forged fruitful chemistry and sealed a splendid straight-set victory whereas the opposing team failed to pocket even a single match point.
In the opening game, Shiho and Miri launched an intensive attack to gain an early advantage. They did not give their competitors enough time to get settled and placed a mountainous figure of 7.
This initial lead helped them to keep the Canadian duo under control all the way to mid-game break.
Both female shuttlers did not lose focus and finished first half of the set with an indomitable score position of 11.
Later part of the game also belonged to Shiho and Miri as they did not make any mistakes and confounded their challengers with a gutsy knock.
At first, they mounted pressure by gathering couple of consecutive points in third quarter of the set and then swept the table with a significant margin of 21-11.
This first set win provided the Japanese campaigner required momentum and they cruised to victory with great ease.
The twosome of Shiho and Miri looked completely on song as both female shuttlers did not show any sign of confusion and played their given role with perfection.
On the other hand, the Canadian ladies failed to come out of their rivals’ influence and knelt down tamely.
First sign of trouble came when Roxanne and Tracy lost few successive points in the beginning. They could not come out of this deficit until the final moments.
Shiho Tanaka and Miri Ichimaru raised their hands as victors after registering a winning margin of 21-10.
Their success played a vital role in this match as Japan performed a clean sweep in this crucial group stage encounter.
