  1. Campagnolo

And please - Can people stop referring to them as "Campy" *shudders"

  2. You're talking top shelf products, so I doubt you'd be disappointed with any.

Dura-Ace: Time proven, well-engineered, good availability & support

Red: [from what I hear] strong performer, good looks, slightly noisy, pricey

    Record: Bonus points for style

  3. As far a road components go I believe that Campagnolo has pulled ahead of Shimano. Campy Record is probably the best component set you can buy (and you will pay for it too.) Campy Chorus, (the next level down) is roughly equal to Shimano Dura-Ace. Plus Campy looks cleaner than Shimano.

  4. I think that the Shimano Dura ace is better because Shimano is a really good company and has been in the market for many years. The last decision is up to you.

  5. I like to think I'm unbiased. I have 3 road bikes now, 2 Shimano Dura Ace equipped and 1 Campy Record.  The Campy is better, but only slightly.  In the past I thought Dura Ace was better, but think Campy is a little ahead of the curve right now.

I don't have experience with SRAM on a road bike, but I'm very impressed with their mountain bike components.  The Red group is higher priced than even Campy.

Watch for the new 09 announcements.  Dura Ace is going carbon a la Campy, and the new Campy Record is 11 speed. So, once again, Campy will be in front.
