Question:

Shimano XTR and XT components compatibility question

I have an XTR M-952 9 speed long cage rear derailleur and an XTR FD M-961 dual pull front derailleur. I just ordered the 08 Shimano XT M-770 crankset with 44-32-22t. I want to get some Shimano XT shifters and an XT cassette but i don't know which are compatible and best with the components i have. I want the best results from what i already have and i want everything to be compatible of course. Thanks for any recommendations and experienced input. P.S. which chain would also be best and compatible? (open to all brands or model on the chain)

  1. All XT and XTR stuff is compatible. No problem there. If I were you I'd look into SRAM 9 speed chains suitable for your setup.

  2. Mirage is right, as usual :)

    Fully compatible,

Sram chains work well Shimano  components.

    Gotta love the power link!!

Personally like the hollow pin chain, just a bit lighter.
