Korea’s spirited duo Shin Baek Choel-Yoo Yeon Seong continued their successful run and powered their way to Men’s Doubles main round of Kumpoo Macau Open Badminton Grand Prix Gold on November 27, 2012.
They were up against Chia Hsin Wan-Wang Wei Tzu in second stage of the qualifying round and they outshined the Taipei pair by registering 21-9 and 21-18 margin.
This tussle lasted for 20 minutes and the Korean couple outclassed the opposing team in all areas of the game.
The twosome of Baek Choel and Yeon Seong showed superb coordination and alarmed all the contestants by sealing a straight-set victory.
They started the ball rolling immediately in the beginning of the first set and maintained that rhythm all the way to final moments.
In the opening game, Baek Choel and Yeon Seong took some time to get on the right track but they never looked back after gaining the required momentum.
They employed an unbeatable strategy after 5-5 and prevailed in six uninterrupted rallies to place an indomitable margin of 11-5.
The Taipei campaigners were not ready for such an emphatic campaign as they could not counter-balance situation.
Chia Hsin and Wang Wei hardly put any resistance and knelt down tamely in later part of the game.
On the other hand, Baek Choel and Yeon Seong showed consistency in their performance and ruled the court even after the mid-game break.
They mounted pressure with 15-5 and then capitalised this psychological edge to pile up a winning figure of 21-9.
However, it was not a smooth road to victory for the Korean duo in following segment of this showdown.
This time the opposing team matched their skills and stayed close on points table until last shot was played.
In first half of the set, Baek Choel and Yeon Seong took off in perfect manner and registered a respectable margin of 5-1.
They made some mistakes which allowed Chia Hsin and Wang Wei to level the score before one-minute break.
At this stage, Baek Choel and Yeon Seong showed elevated craft and gained a decent advantage in third quarter of the set. They raised hands as victors after putting a significant total of 21-18 on the board.
