Question:

Shin Splint Emergency!!?

I have been dealing with horrible shin splints for the past 3 months. I cross train (road biking) and my performance in those sports has improved. Yet every time i got to run (even in wooded areas) I get shin splints after 4-5 minutes and they dont subside!

I have no clue what to do and I only have a month to find a solution before I have to start training for the Detroit Marathon!

I have noticed it gets better when i run faster (maybe it has something to do with my running form.) My trainers only have ~300 miles on them.

PLEASE HELP ME!!

  1. the only real thing you can do is stop and/or reduce your running.

Streching out the parts that hurt about 5 times and day and strech before and after exercise helps.

long story short. stop running and strech more

  2. I think I would rest them for a week

  3. you should put heat on it. i had shin splints if you massage the area it helps. good luck

  4. Sometimes it depends on the kind of shoes u r wearing
