Shin lead in second round of LPGA Mizuno Classic
The Queen posed like a true heiress on the venue of the LPGA Mizuno Classic, when she smashed a round of 66 to take the lead in the second round.
The new world number one did not take any risk and took the course of Kintetsu Kashikojima Country Club, Shima-s**+ on fire. She was chased by Stacy Lewis, who smashed the course lowest on Friday, November 5, 2010. The 25-year-old gave a
tough challenge to the leader with her excellent putting.
On the third place was Miki Saiki, who kept consistent with her score and once again carded a 67 to take a share with Yani Tseng. A stroke behind was Morgan Pressel with 69 in the second round.
Shin drafted nine birdies, but she dropped two shots at the 12th and 14th
to give up the lead. However, in no time she picked two more birdies to offset the bogeys and once again surged into lead. Commenting on her performance Shin said, "It looks great if you have a look at my score, but there were a lot of shots and putts
that I regret, so I am not satisfied with my golf. This year I focused more on playing consistent golf, and it has been working well. I have two more tournaments this year and if I could win either one of them, I would be able to spend a happy, warm winter."
Six strokes behind was Yukari Baba. The Japanese missed a stroke at the 12th, but birdied three of the subsequent holes to fall behind the American, Morgan Pressel. In the preceding round Baba drafted eight birdies against one bogey to make a
65. Speaking to the press Baba said, "I had a great day, and it seems like a chance just rolled into me. But they are a lot of excellent USLPGA players this week and I know they will shoot lower numbers. So I will just try to play my game."
Pressel birdied four of the closing six holes to card a 66, while the previous week's winner Na Yeon Choi, after a spot-less five-birdie round, shared the fourth place with Karine Icher. The French lady kicked off with a splendid start comprising of one
eagle and six birdies, but dropped three shot to level head at par.
