The Borussia Dortmund attacker is worried with his team’s inability to convert chances as Greuther Furth forced the Borussians into extra time.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Shinji-Kagawa-c33364 rues missed opportunities as Dortmund were forced into extra time against the 2.Bundesliga side, Greuther Furth. Both sides met in the first semi-final of the DFB-Pokal with Dortmund emerging as 1-0 winners courtesy
of a 120th minute striker from Ilkay Gundogan.
The attacker stated that the Borussians should have sealed the game earlier if they had made use of their opportunities. He also blamed himself for missing at least two golden opportunities to put his team ahead in each of the
two halves.
Kagawa missed a header in the first-half and then his left footed volley in the second period was easily saved. He admitted that the Black Yellows need to improve their finishing in front of the goal if they want to challenge the
likes of Bayern Munich and other top European sides in the future.
While talking to reporters after the game, the former Cerezo Osaka star further added:
"I felt like we could create chances, and just like [Saturday's match against Bremen] our inability to convert those chances is something for us to consider. We certainly made mistakes. I made several mistakes in the second half."
Kagawa mentioned that manager, Jurgen Klopp, has already made note of this deficiency and the players are working hard to improve. The midfielder insisted that the team should concentrate harder in order to improve further.
"But I think somehow we'll be able to figure it out, because it's not a problem with our technique. I think if we work on improving our concentration, and in that sort of situation we can treat the ball better when we have possession,
[we'll be fine]," Kagawa concluded.
Dortmund are currently leading the Bundesliga standings with 59 points and have already made it to the final of the German Cup. The Black Yellows will either take on Borussia Monchengladbach or Bayern Munich in the final. Klopp’s
men will also take on The Reds in an important league game on April 11, which could decide the Bundesliga title.
