Shiny Yarn?

Question

So i got this yarn from a friend, and it's shiny. Actually I'm not even sure it's yarn. But it sort of looks like yarn. But it's shiny. And sort of plastic-y feeling. VERY odd. It's pretty lightweight but I have no idea what to do with it. Do you think I could knot with it even though I'm not sure what it is... And does anyone have an idea as to what it COULD be?
