Strange but true.

So Nakano gets an 08 spec RCV212 for been a good boy and completing all the races, whilst Dovi [ riding like a god and even beating Hayden .... at his home track ] still gets dumped with the 07 RCV 212 07 Spec ?

Seems a little weird.

Lets face it, Dovi is on the Repsol for 09 [ 99% confirmed ] so why give the " test spare " to Nakano who, lets face it, will be out of MotoGP for 09 for been to slow. Like West & a fair few others I can think of.

Your thoughts please race fans?

  1. grats to Nakano, it is good to see him get a factory ride.  I have only begun to learn how brutal this sport is politically.

Perhaps because of Nakano's track and bike experience. Dovi is still learning his...just my guess

  2. Hi Wiggysan. it will be interesting to ee if he (Shinya) can beat Dovi in Brno then wont it. My Money is on Dovi factory bike or not. Maybe honda are trying to get a result for Shinya as an option for the HRC ride. j*p Rider on a j*p Bike. they always want one.  You dont have to go back far to see how HRC treat their riders just look at Nicky.

Just as another thought. we are assuming nearly no change to current set of riders.  what about my little japanese friends

other than Tady.  there is Tatsuya Yamaguchi, & Shinichi Itoh riding Hondas in Japan or the Yamaha rider Kasuyuki Nakasuga.   Shinichi might turn up on the world scene next season. I just dont know where, or what class. He is good enough.

Edit... Thats good thinking Neilggti.  Hmm Could Be !!

Though Bridgestone did say they wanted competition and would not supply the whole field ? or HRC ?

  3. HRC works in mysterious ways. It seems they do not value the rider as much as the other manufacturers (the Rossi saga as one example), I do have to say Shinya has impressed me this year with his consistency.

On a side note, if you think Dovi is getting the Repsol ride, I assume you think Hayden will be on the Duck?.......

  4. Hi wiggysan

It does seem a little strange (but interesting). Shinya has been consistent without doubt. But he's not exactly set the world alight.

It makes me wonder if Honda are just evaluating the effect of Bridgestone rubber on a factory machine, and just using the excuse of "rewarding his consistency".

Might we be seeing a switch to Japanese rubber for the Repsol team in 2009? Hmm..........I doubt it, but you never know.

  5. Honda def. has some strange ways at times

    Look how they treated Edwards

they have some homeboy loyalty for sure
