Ship to Hawaii?

Question

Does anyone travel to Hawaii via ship? (becides cruises) or does mostly everyone travel by plane? Is there some sort of public way to get to Hawaii by a ship, but not a cruise ship?

You have not really stated from what origin.  If your destination is Hawaii, you can travel around Hawaii (originating Honolulu).  Norwegian Cruiseline specialize in Hawaiian Cruise.  Search on it!

I have never heard of any ship transportation other than a cruise ship to Hawaii. At that distance you require a room and dining facilities so you might as well have a full cruise ship.

You can book passage aboard a freighter.  There are no activities, no lavish meals but there are also no crowds and the prices are very reasonable.  Do a google search for "cargo ship" passenger.  or see the website below for other options.

There is no ship set up to transport passengers between the continental United States and Hawaii.  Basically people would rather spend five hours flying than four days on a ship if the goal is just to get to Hawaii.  

However, there are a few cruise ships that make this one way trip.  Usually in the spring (April/May) and in the fall (September/October).  These are usually ships that are repositioning from the Caribbean to Alaska, or from Alaska back to the Caribbean.
