Shipment of Hollister Plaid Shorts (sizing is a little long is that normal or is there a way to shrink it)?

I'm 5'8 I got a 31 size in plaid shorts. Just received the shipment today, never ordered shorts from hollister before. http://www.hollisterco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10251_10201_425348_-1_12736_12551 - link to the shorts. I got two pairs. When I put them on I need a belt but that is not a problem, the length is. The shorts go to aboyut my mid calf I'm not sure if that is the "style" of hollister shorts or if I just got a big size. If the case is big size how would I be able to shrink them? Thanks!

HOT water, wash them in VERY hot water than dry them in HOT on the dryer, leave them in there for 1 hour they should shrink 2 sizes if not repeat.

or if your mom can sew them (its called hemming) it will bring the leg part up to your knees.

I know how good the smell is but if you put it in the washer then the dryer it should shrink a little bit.

they'll shrink if you put them in the wash, they're cotton...
