Shipment of vehicles for Air Force members?

My husband and I were relocated to a remote location. (OCONUS) Our car was to be shipped by boat. It was due August 6th and is still not here. I hear we are eligible for some rental reimbursement, but is there anything else we're entitled to? They say that the RDD (Required Delivery Date) does not matter and that we have no rights. It took my husband's commander to press and get them to admit we were even entitled to rental reimbursement. For four months I've been trekking up and down hills in the sun with an infant to get to the grocery store saying "the car will be here any day now" but each boat didn't have it. Anyone else have this problem?

  1. When I was in the Navy I shipped my Malibu from Puerto Rico to Guam and from Guam to Atlanta GA.  Mine arrived early on each occasion.

Sorry to hear about you problems. You might want to have them see if they can track it better. If it is lost you would be entitled to reimbursement. I know it sucks but stay on it. They might have to buy you a new "used" one.

  2. We shipped ours back from Spain to St. Louis last year.  Our RDD was in August 07, but it didn't arrive until September.   there is nothing in the contract withAmerican Auto Logistics that states they have to do anything if it does not reach you by the RDD.  There should be a local Office that handles the car shipping.  Ours missed teh boat coming out of Spain, then it missed the carrier out of Charleston, so it was late.

I've attached a link to a site to help yo utrack it, it also has a customer service number, so I would hound them until the cows come home, or your car arrives!

    Good Luck!

  3. Check with TMO.  I believ it can take up to 40 days to get your vehicle.
