Question:

Shipping Bandages on a Horse?

I cannot figure out how to bandage Jazz with a shipping bandage. I know how to polo wrap and properly apply standing bandages but cant get the shipping ones. I think my biggest problem is folding/working with the sheet cotton to make it thick and tall enough. Incase I got the name wrong I want to do the bandage that goes from cornet band to knee/hock. I couldnt find a picture online (well at least an acceptable one)

These are my wraps (I have the green by the way. They purdy!)

and this sheeting

How do you work with the sheeting or do you have any tips for bandaging/wraping in general? Thanks!

  1. As an upper level pony clubber i know how diffucult a shipping wrap can be. My best idea is that when you roll up the padding and wrap wrap it as tight as possible this will help when applying the wrap. Also i flannal wrap work best because they allow you to pull against them without getting to tight like the track wraps. Make sure that your wrap is long enough other wise it will be quite frustrating when you get to the end and there is not enough. Post a picture of your wrap and maybe i can explain how to fix the problems your having.

  2. It's very difficult to explain how to bandage without showing you. Could your trainer or someone else at you stable help you?

Do you need to bandage? Could you put travel boots on? Boots are easier and quicker to use than bandages and are designed to offer maximum protection from knee or hock right down to the floor.
