Shipping Large Package From USA To Germany Bought Off Ebay

Question

So i have a customer that wants to buy one of the most expensive hockey skates off me on ebay...but he lives in germany. I never shipped internationally and i need help.

1. On usps.com it says it would cost about $50 to ship large package from usa to germany...is shipping internationally really that much.

2. Should i force him to pay insurance for the $300 skates because what if they get lost.

3. What is certificate of delivery.

Yes, international shipping really costs that much.  But hey, it probably costs $400+ for the skates in a German store, so he's still saving money.

YOU should buy insurance whether the buyer requests it or not.  If the package is lost, YOU are the one who must refund the buyer.  Cover your butt.

Certificate of the what now?  Never heard of it.  Check USPS to see if their service offers signature tracking.  You need it for PayPal seller protection on items over $250, if I remember right.
