I am going to be shipping someone a solar panel. With this is a deep cycle battery. It's a lead-acid battery that looks like a car battery. Would there be any restrictions for shipping this via DHL or similar?

  1. you must use a certified haz mat(since the battery is classified as corrosive) carrier---fed -ex ltl trucking---ups ltl(less than truck load)--averitte-rodeway--you must package battery safely and put corrosive stickers on the box---list on bill of lading--proper shipping name--class--hazard group---and weight--the trucking company you use should be able to help you---you can get a blank bill of lading on most company websites--hopes this helps---the little brown ups(most of them anyway) truck drivers are not haz mat certified

  2. A rep from Interstate batteries once told me the only way they can ship me a battery is if the battery is not yet activated.  She said UPS would not ship an activated battery I assume DHL is the same.

I'm pretty sure any battery from a store will already be activated. I don't believe you can buy un-activated batteries at normal stores, it would have to come with a seperate bottle of concentrated acid, and I just don't think WalMart or Pep Boys would carry the liability.
