Question:

Shipping bandage??

So I'm trying to wrap a shipping bandage on my horse with pillow wraps and flannels, but I can't get the wrap to stay tight at both the top and bottom (that's when I'm first putting the pillow wrap on before the flannels). I can get it tight at the top, but when I tighten the top the bottom twists and I can't keep them both tight while I start to put the flannels over the pillow wraps. Also, are there any techniques you can share about cupping the wrap around the horse's heel?

  1. I don't mean to sound mean but don't try to apply shipping bandages if you don't know how! You could really hurt your horses legs with the smallest mistake. Is their anyone who knows how to apply them correctly that could show you how? If not I would suggest buying some shipping boots at a local tack shop or from www.doversaddlery.com

I hope this helps and good luck :]

  2. Wraps are a pain honestly. I suggest you invest in some shipping boots. You can get them as cheap as $20.

^^you may find this video helpful^^

  4. start in the middle and go to the bottom then go to the top and end up in the middle again. if you have your horse stand on a board its easier to cup the horse's heel. have someone hold onto the bottom of the wrap while you are first trying, it makes it easier. also holding it with your knee can help too. Good luck! im about to go practice lol
