Have any of you run a mail order business from your home.

If so who has the best shipping rates, the post office, ups or fed-ex? Also, who did you find most reliable...least amount of lost parcels etc?

  1. I never did any mail order work from home, but I did work for a huge fortune 500 investment firm that did a lot of shipping.  They used all of the shipping companies DHL, Air One, FEDEX, UPS, some over seas place that I forgot the name of.  The primary one that they used was UPS.  They give you certain discounts and breaks depending on how much you ship.  They also can make an agreement about how many claims you can receive credit for throughout the year if the item should show up late, or is complete delayed from being left in a UPS hub, or if the item was destroyed you would fill out a claims for stating the value to replace the item. You also get different rates depending on the zone to where it orginates and what type of servie 2day air vs ground, or next day vs ground.  You have to call a customer service rep to see if they will discuss business with you.

  2. I use the Post Office for all my shipping.  I can make a shipping label from the USPS site, and can track it.  I have yet to have any lost parcels.  You can also have Carrier Pick Up for free..Check out www.usps. com

  3. The post office by far.
