  1. yes in my mind but in real world i dont think so

  2. The Queen Mary 2 is 1,132 feet, and the Titanic was only 882 feet.

  3. yeah, the queen elizabeth either the first or the second, not sure. the titanic isnt anywhere near as big.

  4. The Voyager of the Seas and the Explorer of the Seas are 1,020 feet long and 158 feet wide. Both have a gross tonnage of 140,000 tons and carry roughly 3,000 passengers and 2,000 crew members.

By comparison, the Titanic was 883 feet long, 93 feet wide, and weighed 45,000 tons.

  5. In her day Titanic was big:

46,328 Gross Register tons [24,900 Net tons]

    882 ft 8ins [268 m] long

    92ft 6ins [28m] beam/width

She carried up to 3547 passengers

    -----------------------------------

All these ships are currently in service.

Knock Nevis 564,763 tons displacement. 1,504 ft (458 m) long. Supertanker. No longer actually at sea -used for oil storage, but still in service.

Prevously named Jahre Viking.previously Seawise Giant.

    TI Oceania. 441,600tons displacement. 1,245 ft (380 m ) Supertanker

Berge Stahl. 364,768 tons displacement. 1,125 ft (343 m ) Bulk cargo ship

Brasil Maru 327,180 tons. 1,115 ft (340 m) Ore carrier

Emma Mærsk 170,974 displacement. 1,302 ft (397 m) Container ship.

Independence of the Seas 160,000 gross tons. 1,112 feet (339m) long - Cuise ship.

Freedom of the Seas 160,000 gross tons. 1,112 feet (339m) long – Cruise ship

Liberty of the Seas 160,000 gross tons. 1,112 feet (339m) long – Cruise ship.

    RMS Queen Mary 2. 148,528tons. 1,132 ft (345 m) Ocean liner

    Nimitz class (9 /10 in service) 102,000 tons. 1,040 ft (317 m) Aircraft Carrier.

...and probably a thousand or so bigger than 46,328 tons/882 ft long

All the above ships are in service, so you decide. Do we decide by tonnage or length. Also There are Gross tons, Gross Register tons, Net Tons, Deadweight, Displacement etc several ways of measuring tonnage. So it's almost impossible to simply decide which is the biggest. You CAN ask which is the biggest cruise ship, or which is the biggest warship, or Ore Carrier, as long as the tonnages are calculated by the same method.

All the above ships are currently in service, and are at least TWICE the tonnage of Titanic.   She was very average by todays standards, but very large indeed in her own day.

Phew!  Now I need a tot of rum.

  6. Titanic wasn't even the biggest in her time...5 German ships and Lusitania/Mauritania were bigger...

in terms of ocean liners /cruise ships today she is about half the size of what's out there......
