Shirty Gerty seeking a straight fifth win through the Bedford Road Stayers at Henlow on 19th April
Henlow will stage the Bedford Road Stayers over 692 metres flat on Thursday, 19th April. Contesting for the £175 prize money are Shirty Gerty, Holycross Girl, Blackrose Monach, Westmead Armour, Hey Kiddo and Ballymac Sally.
Leading the line-up with unprecedented success is Shirty Gerty, Westmead Hawk’s four-year-old black daughter out of b***h, Lively Jubbley. She has very recently struck beyond hat trick by bagging a fourth success in a row.
Her debut victory of the new season was on 14th January at Swindon over 480 metres after she timed the track distance in 29.26 seconds and was followed by the runner up, Queen O The Mall, who was left behind by two and a half lengths.
She then stayed unsuccessful in the next four races and in between those races she got drilled over 605 metres on 16th February at Peterborough which she covered in 37.72 seconds.
On 16th March began the series of victories that went on till 6th April. She won a Grade S1 605 metres at Peterborough by completing the trip in 37.76 seconds. Betinboots was the 7/4 favourite runner up of the race and timed the track
distance in 38.22 seconds.
Coming at terms with the third position was Surelines Answer.
Second success in line was on 23rd March in a Grade S1 605 metres flat at Peterborough after she raced for 38.37 seconds. The 5/4 favourite of the race led the runner up, News Reporter, by ¾ of a length. He joined the winner after racing for 38.43
seconds.
Surelines Answer finished third once again.
Shirty Gerty struck a hat trick by shoving the ½ favourite of the race, Bubbly Capel, into the runner up’s slot while leading by 3 ¾ lengths and timing the distance in 45.50 seconds. Bubbly Capel concluded the race in 45.80 seconds.
Settling third behind the winner was Crossleigh Tinko.
Shirty Gerty added the fourth victory on the profile on 6th April by covering the 605 metres distance of the www.stangroundcarpets.Com Stakes at Peterborough in 38.78 seconds and was followed by Monleek Merc who took 38.79 seconds to race through
the same distance. The evening’s favourite, Turibius, finished fourth after the winner.
Shirty Gerty has all the chances of extending the winning streak to five wins.
