Shiv Kapur falls apart at the BMW International Open, he might become the ‘bogey king’ of Europe!
The BMW International Open saw Danny Willett taking home his first European Tour title this Sunday at Cologne. It was amazing to witness Willett playing brilliantly in such a bad weather.
The only man who disappointed at the BMW International Open was the Indian golfer Shiv Kapur. It became painful at the end when Kapur had the worst finish of his entire career, with numerous bogeys and poor swings following his play-off.
The Indian had a few good chances earlier on but he clearly failed to utilise them in his favour. It is one of those Tours when a golfer just cannot do much about it and Kapur was that golfer.
On the other hand, England’s Danny Willett had the time of his life, as he pushed his way across the stormy weather conditions at Cologne and won his first European Tour title at the BMW International Open.
Willett seemed overwhelmed and ecstatic with his performance and was pleased with how he dealt with everything, including his opponent Marcus Fraser.
“It's amazing, it was a tough day -- it was brutal with the wind whipping and it was raining,” said Willett, after his first European win at Cologne.
His opponent was in great form during the play-off but could not stand up to Willett’s determination to win his first European glory.
“Marcus had a great round today and I hung in there nicely. Hopefully I gave people a good show,” said Willett.
Just like the Kapur disaster, Spanish Sergio Garcia was also among the worst golfers in the BMW International Open. Garcia has been vocal about his majors’ record recently and clearly mentioned that he does not care if his record lacks a major championship
win.
"If I don't have a major, what can I do, I'm not going to take my life because I don't win a major. Fortunately I have a lot of other things that maybe some of those guys who have won majors don't have,” said the Spanish golfer.
Well, Garcia should abandon his major championship dream because the European Tour fixtures are comparatively easy. His flunk at the European gala clearly shows that he would be equally disappointing in a major tournament.
Kapur and Garcia are on the same page as far as the BMW International Open is concerned. They would need a miracle to craft anything in the future to get them out of the current dilemma.
