Shiv Kapur set to returns to action at the Thailand Golf Championship
After taking two weeks off, Shiv Kapur is set to return to action, when he tees off at this week’s Thailand Golf Championship, slated to start from Thursday, December 06, 2012.
The US$1 million tournament will be played at the Amata Spring Country Club in Bangkok, and is sanctioned by the Asian Tour.
The Indian star is currently enjoying a great run of form, having recorded three top-five finishes in the last five tournaments that he played.
The 30-year-old finished tied for the fourth position at the Asia-Pacific Panasonic Open. Thereafter, he participated in the Venetian Macau Open and the Hero Indian Open, where he finished fifth and fourth, respectively.
Despite missing the cut in his last start, the UBS Hong Kong Open, he is confident to contend strongly in the second-last tournament of the season.
Talking to the Asian Tour’s official website, Kapur said that he will not allow a single bad finish to overhaul his overall form in the recent times.
He also revealed that he tried to tweak his short game, during the two-week period that he spent at home. In addition to that, he also worked with his swing coach, in a bid to bring some improvements in his game off the tee.
“I tried to work a little bit on my short game. My swing felt pretty good so I wanted it to be in the groove,” he said.
He now expects to end his seven-year title drought on the Asian Tour, since his last victory came at the 2005 Volvo Masters of Asia.
“I really hope the win comes soon. You’ve got to be patient. I haven’t won since 2005 but I had a few seconds and thirds,” he said. “I’ve been up there on the business-end of the leaderboard so if I can keep doing that, then I feel the win is just around
the corner”.
His participation in the Thailand Golf Championship will mark his 13th start on the Asian Tour this season. The Indian said that he will try to play more events next season.
“I plan to play more on the Asian Tour next year so hopefully I can get that win early enough,” he said.
