Question:

Shivers down spine when listening to music?

Hi, when listening to songs I really like (Pink Floyd mainly) I get shivers down my spine. I just got one then (listening to Metallica's No Leaf Clover), spreading up my spine, across my left cheek etc. What is it that causes these euphoric "shivers"?

Thanks!

  1. Whatever piece it is to you , this is the music T.S. Elliot describes as  "Music heard so deeply that it is not heard at all.  But you are the music while the music lasts."  Why does music affect our emotions this way?  Music is sound waves.  The cochlea in our ears translate them into electrical impulses which travel to the brain stem, and then become brain waves (alpha, delta, etc.).  When we say we've been moved or touch by a piece of music, indeed we have.  Music may be felt as much as heard.
