The West Indian cricket team finds itself in all sorts of trouble in the second Test match being played against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The tourists still require 283 runs to avoid an innings defeat.
According to Adrian Barath, Shivnarine Chanderpaul holds the key for West Indies, if they are to force India to bat once again.
The Caribbean Kings were dismissed cheaply, for 153 runs in first innings, and in their second outing they have posted 195 runs for the loss of three wickets. Chanderpaul is unbeaten at the crease and is accompanied by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DM-Bravo-c1386,
the duo have amassed 21 and 38 runs respectively.
Expecting Chanderpaul to bat through the fourth day and extend the match to the fifth, Barath said, “Chanderpaul is the key player for us tomorrow. He can bat through tomorrow and make it difficult for the Indian bowlers. He can
take the game into the fifth day and make them bat again.  He looks very determined, eyeing 10,000 Test runs. He definitely has plans to take the match into the fifth day.”
Indian bowlers were raising havoc against the Caribbean batsmen in the first innings but the visitors showed great resistance in the second. Barath led the charge with an impressive 62 runs. The youngster was disappointed to get
out after doing all the hard work.
Saddened by the missed opportunity, Barath said, “I have been away from International cricket for probably around a month. It was important for me to get back in the groove. I am thankful for getting a half-century but I think
I should have carried on. I went out there and tried my best to get West Indies off to a good start. Our objective was to go there and just apply ourselves once again.”
Barath, along with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kirk-Anton-Edwards-c71510 (60), brought some stability to the West Indian innings after they lost an early wicket. The duo put on a 93-run partnership for the second wicket.
The 21-year-old hoped that Chanderpaul and Bravo build on this and bat all day. The newbie admitted that West Indian batsmen did not apply themselves properly in the first innings and this led to their debacle. Barath advised both
batsmen to stay at the wicket as long as they can, because the surface is still as flat as it was on day one.
