Shizuka Uchida crushes Olga Golovanova in Women’s Singles round-of-16 at Russia Open Grand Prix
Shizuka Uchida, an upcoming shuttler of Japan, continued her roller-coaster performance and reached into Women’s Singles quarter-final after proving her elevated class in round-of-16 match against Russia’s Olga Golovanova at the 2012 Russia Open Grand Prix on Thursday, June 28, in Vladivostok.
The Japanese lady displayed an aggressive play throughout the contest against the local shuttler and ousted her easily without facing any trouble at any stage.
Shizuka dominated the pace and dictated her Russian challenger by using her top quality skills in the court and won the fight in straight games with a huge margin on the score board.
In contrast, the Russian lady failed to cheer her home fans as she could not show even a meagre resistance on court and easily bowed down to her rival in a one-sided battle in just 25 minutes.
The in-form Japanese shuttler started her power play from the starting rallies of first game by employing her aggressive skills and executed powerful smashes in right areas to take a superb lead of 11-3 until the 60-second interval.
After the break, Shizuka continued her stunning performance against the local shuttler by maintaining her upper hand.
The impressive court coverage and smooth movement of Shizuka made the different between both shuttlers. She was focused and also played smart badminton to grab the opening set with a huge difference of 21-6.
In the second game, Golovanova put up strong resistance in opening rallies as she played positive and fast badminton this time.
However, the Russian could not stop the progress of her rival who started to dominate the game with her attacking play.
Until the 60-second break in second set, it was the impressive Japanese lady who was far ahead on the score board at 11-4.
After the break, Shizuka remained consistent in her game plan and did not spare any loophole for her challenger.
The higher ranked Japanese shuttler was at her best while playing against Golovanova and took the second game with a big margin of 21-12.
Shizuka finished off this straight set battle in just 25 minutes by a stunning 21-6 and 21-12 score on the board.
