Sho Sasaki penetrates into Men’s Singles quarter-final of the 2011 Denmark Open Premier Super Series
Japan’s top shuttler, Sho Sasaki proves his elite skills when he booked his place in the Men’s Singles quarter-final after beating Vietnam’s Tien Minh Nguyen in the round-of-16 of the 2011 Denmark Open Premier Super Series, in Denmark, on Thursday, October
20.
The World Number Nine Sasaki has been playing phenomenal badminton for the last nine months and has defeated many top shuttlers in different events. In the Denmark Open, the Japanese shuttler defeated the higher ranked Tien Minh, who is World Number Seven
at the moment.
Sasaki played wonderful badminton in the opening set and won it with a remarkable margin. However, he lost the second set as his opponent played superb game this time and levelled the match. In the final set, Sasaki managed to win the battle with a tight
margin and advanced into the next stage in the event.
In the first game of the match, Sasaki played to his full potential and showed no mercy to Tien Minh, who failed to deliver positive performance. The Vietnamese committed many unforced errors in the first game against the in-form Japanese who remained positive
and consistent in the whole set. Sasaki won the game with a stunning margin of 21-13 in 17 minutes.
In the second set of the match, Tien Minh lifted up his level of play and delivered remarkable performance by playing attacking game. His powerful smashes landed on the side lines of the court and earned him advantage over the Japanese, who became defensive
in this game. Sasaki lost the game in 23 minutes with a margin of 15-21.
In the third set of the match, both players pulled attention of the crowd by playing fast and positive badminton. They progressed closely until the final points of the game when the Japanese showed his impressive skills and won the set with a 23-21 score
in 26 minutes. The 66-minute contest ended up by a margin of 21-13, 15-21 and 23-21.
In the quarter-final, Sasaki will take on Wing Ki Wong of Hong Kong, who made an upset by beating the second seed Lin Dan of China in the round-of-16.
