Shoaib Akhtar free to express his opinion says Rahul Dravid – Cricket News Update
While the Men In Blue hierarchy were left fuming over the comments made by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Dravid-c2229 has come out in his usual humble way and said that former Pakistani pacer is free to express his opinion.
Akhtar, who announced his retirement after his team’s semi-final exit from the World Cup 2011, wrote in his autobiography that veterans of the Indian team, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/SR-Tendulkar-c2556 and Dravid are not match winners. His remarks did not please the Indian fans or the
BCCI, which since have asked the pacer to apologize for making such wild comments.
Dravid however, did not seem fazed with the remarks and said that the retired fast bowler is free to express himself.
"I'm neither hassled, nor shocked or even disturbed," said Dravid. "He has an opinion, and so is free to express. I have been around for too long to be perturbed by these things."
The veteran has been a pivotal figure for the Men In Blue since making his debut way back in 1996. His classy technique is a remnant of an era, where Test Cricket was the considered to be the most important format of the game.
Having said that, the player has shown ability to adapt to the 50-over game as well, having amassed over 10,000 runs and played over 300 matches. However, one could argue that it is the Test arena, which is where the player has truly made his name.
In total he has played in 157 Test matches, averaging an impressive 53 with over 12000 runs -a true testament to his class. To add to his on-field accolades, the player has never been involved in any sort of verbal spat which has seen him earn respect among
his peers.
“Controversially Yours”, the name of the autobiography of the former Pakistani pacer ,certainly did not go well with many of the Men In Green stars, including http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shoaib-Malik-c90088. While even they took a swipe at Akhtar, Dravid, in his typical manner
decided against it; which speaks volume of his stature.
