Shoaib Akhtar’s case Adjourned by Court untill September – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s former international cricketer, Shoaib Akhtar’s case against a fine of seven million rupees has been adjourned by court till September 27, 2011.
According to insiders, Shoaib wants the penalty nullified, while on the other hand the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is in no mood to let the former one-day international star get off the hook.
Talking about the proceedings of the day, the legal advisor of the PCB, Taffazul Rizvi revealed, “Akhtar's lawyer had pleaded that the fine imposed ended after a new PCB set-up took over in October 2008, but our stance is that there is no vacuum in the law
and the fine still holds."
However, the court asked for further details on the matter due to which the case had to be adjourned for another date. This case is dealing with the fine which was imposed on the player three-years ago.
The penalty was imposed after the player publically criticised the PCB for revoking his central contract. On the other hand the cricket board clarified that the cricketer’s central contract was terminated because he had not been playing for Pakistan consistently
due to injury related and disciplinary issues, automatically disqualifying him for a place among the centrally contracted players.
The 35-year-old Akhtar took retirement from international cricket this year, during the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 during Pakistan’s group match, where he was slaughtered by the Kiwi all-rounder and now skipper, Ross
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Taylor-c92915, in the death overs.
Akhtar, who had already announced that this year’s world cup would be his last, seemed helpless later in the innings after http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Kamran-Akmal-c70122 had dropped Taylor twice in his same over.
The hot headed bowler was then dropped from the team and was not asked to appear for the country even when Pakistan had reached the semi-final stage of the tournament. He also faced disciplinary action by the touring management for allegedly assaulting Akmal
after he had shown a despicable form behind the stumps.
In 2007, Akhtar was fined a nifty sum of almost 3.4 million rupees and a ban of 13 matches was imposed on him for hitting fellow pacer http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Asif-c1993 with a bat.
With a serious problem regarding discipline issues, the former pacer is certainly going to have a tough time pleading his case in front of the court when the hearing resumes later this year.
