Shoaib Malik and Danish Kaneria’s future likely to be decided by PCB today – Cricket News Update
Former Pakistani skipper, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board (PCB) is likely to give a ruling about their eligibility for national selection, today, August 15, 2011.
The governing body recently denied Central Contracts to both cricketers, reasoning that the two players cannot be selected until cleared by the Integrity Committee.
Headed by the Chairman PCB, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohsin-Hasan-Khan-c77595, Major Najam and Colonel Waseem Ahmed.
According to a reliable PCB source, Malik and Kaneria are scheduled to appear before the committee today and the Board will make the final decision about their eligibility after hearing both of them.
Malik’s exclusion from the list of contracted players came as a result of the controversial 95,000 pounds in his personal bank account. Although, the former skipper has already clarified his position to some extent, he will give a formal explanation about
the huge amount today.
"Malik has submitted some replies and documents regarding questions over a heavy amount found in his accounts. But it is too premature to say whether he would be cleared by the integrity committee or not," A PCB official said on the condition of anonymity.
On the other hand, Kaneria also has a similar story. He was accused of Spot Fixing during the County Competition in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013; however, Kaneria was cleared by the English investigation agencies as there was no proof found against the leg-spinner.
Despite the clearance by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Essex-c783, PCB earlier overlooked the 30-year-old spinner, terming the clearance letter as unacceptable. As a result, the right-arm spinner took the matter to the court, which adjourned the case after directing Kaneria to submit the
transcript of Essex's police inquiry to PCB.
While Kaneria is yet to submit his clearance certificate, he is expected to bring the necessary documents along with him to the committee meeting.
"The court had told him to submit documents to the board but so far we have got nothing fresh from him. Perhaps, he will come with the documents himself," added the source.
