Former Pakistani skipper, Shoaib Malik, has welcomed the decision of the Board of Control for Cricket in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sialkot-c842 Stallions, for the Champions LeagueT20.
“It is a great decision by the BCCI to invite our champions team for the mega event.” Malik told reporters at the Gaddafi Stadium, where http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758.
Sialkot Stallions is the most successful domestic team of the country which has won five consecutive Faysal Bank Twenty20 Cups from 2005 to 2010. In 2011, they lost the semi finals to Karachi http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dolphins-c781 but came back strongly this year and lifted the Cup in
a convincing manner.
Malik, who is the skipper of the Stallions, is confident about his side’s strength, and is aiming to put an impressive show in their first ever appearance in an international league.
“Each member of my team (Stallions) will be ambassadors for our country in the Champions League. We’ll give our best in the tournament,” said Malik.
Pakistan and India has not played any bilateral series after the Men in Green’s tour of their counterparts in 2007, where both clashed in a series of five ODIs and 3 Test matches. Both contests were won by the host nation by 3-2 and 1-0 respectively.
The 30-year-old all-rounder believes that the BCCI’s decision will help the two countries to restore their cricketing relations, which hit a deadlock following the 2008 http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 attacks.
“Hopefully bilateral series between the two countries will resume very soon. That is something that cricket-crazy fans on both sides of the border want to see,” said the middle-order-batsman.
Malik has been an occasional member of the national team over the last two years due to his below par performances in the limited over version. However, his domestic showings have been impressive all along and will pose quite a threat to his opponents in
the CLT20.
The right-arm spinner was recently included in the T20 squad which will travel to Sri Lanka to contest in 2 T20 matches, starting from June 1, which remains his only chance to impress the selectors and retain his place for future series.
