Former Pakistani captain, Shoaib Malik, will be under observation during the upcoming series against Sri Lanka in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 and will have to perform sooner rather than later to cement his place in the national team.
Malik was out of International cricket since last one year as he was not cleared by the integrity committee of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 Cricket Board. However, the all-rounder was able to submit the required documents and as a result he was immediately drafted in the national
squad for the tour of Zimbabwe.
Unfortunately, the all-rounder failed to make an impression in the series. Majority of the cricket analysts around the world feel that he looked rusty because he was away from International cricket in recent times and they are hopeful that the former captain
is going to come good very soon in International cricket.
However, on the condition of anonymity, a source from the board said that Malik is under the scanner and he is only in the side dispite a dismal show in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohsin-Hasan-Khan-c77595 and company wants to give him a chance to prove his worth.
"Malik is in the squad because the selection committee wants to give him a proper chance," the source said.
Malik has been a great servant of Pakistan cricket over the years and has played a number of match-winning knocks for the country in past. He recently led http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sialkot-c842 Stallions to victory in the Faysal Bank T20 Tournament 2011 in Karachi for the sixth time.
His performance was inspirational in the tournament and one hopes that he would be able to showcase such form in International cricket for the country.
There are predictions that Malik may become the captain of the national team soon but for that he must cement his place in the national team.
The source added, “His performance in Zimbabwe was below par and he has a lot to prove. People say that he may return as captain soon, but everything depends on his performance, given that he's not an automatic choice in the playing-eleven."
